Autumn 2023.
Gyokuro is perhaps the most prestigious shade-grown green tea from Japan. Well-balanced umami and bittersweet flavors with a refreshing sharpness.
Gyokuro is similar to sencha in taste, but is grown in the shade for a longer period of time. This gives an explosion of umami and, brewed with the right water temperature, a sweet nectar-like brew.
Traditional preparation
Add 1 tablespoon (7 g) of tea to a small teapot (150 ml / 5 oz)
Use water cooled to about 70-75 degrees.
Add water that just covers the tea leaves.
Let brew for 60 seconds and decant.
Brew at least 4 times on the same leaves and add 5 seconds each time.
We encourage you to experiment with the amount of tea leaves and the length of the brewing time to find the desired brewing strength. We do not recommend varying the water temperature, as water that is too hot will overextract the bitter components of the tea, while water that is too cool will not fully extract the aromas and flavors of the tea.
Organic green tea
An organic product is produced in a way that takes the environment into account by not using chemical and synthetic pesticides. It's good for the planet, but also for the tea, the farmer and you. By buying organic teas, you support healthy and long-term tea production.
NO-ØKO-01
We are proud to be the largest Norwegian brand importer of organic tea. To be approved by Debio and use the definition Organic, not only must the ingredients be certified organic, but our own plant must also be certified by Debio and controlled by Mattsilynet.
In addition to import controls from the Norwegian Food Safety Authority, we go beyond the requirements by also taking random samples for pesticides/pesticides and other pollutants.
It is important that tea is stored protected from air and light. That's why we sell all our teas packed in tight aluminum bags with a zip lock.
